MATT Schaefer clobbered Ace-Buttercup’s bowlers to all sections of the Sportsground on Friday night to smash a century in the Armidale Big Bash.
Schaefer, who was previously the only player to score a ton in the franchise format, led Adda Constructions to a comfortable victory.
Adda was in early strife at 2/11, but a 171-run partnership between Schaefer and Josh Croft helped the side to 2/182.
Schaefer hit just one six in his unbeaten 100, but whacked nine fours on his way to triple figures.
At the other end, Croft sent the ball into the fence five times as he scored an unbeaten 59.
Adda Constructions had no problems defending its total, dismissing Ace-Buttercup for 113.
In the other match, Moxon’s Bakery held off Sportspower in a thriller.
The Bakers were able to defend their total of 120 in an innings where several batsmen got starts, but didn’t convert into a big score.
In reply, Sportspower fell short in the final over.
Ben Welch stood tall under pressure to deliver his side victory, conceding just 11 runs in the over when Sportspower needed 13 to tie and 14 to win.
Dean Moore (29) and Barry Lockwood (39) made good scores, but there rest of the batting line-up failed to fire.
Adda Constructions and Moxon’s Bakery are both undefeated in the Big Bash, but face each other in the final round this Friday night.
They could also meet again in the grand final on Sunday week. If Sportspower beats Ace-Buttercup in the opening match this Friday, the result of the later game will be irrelevant.
However, if Ace wins, then the loser of the Adda-Moxon’s match could miss out on a grand final berth.
