HARNESS racing returns to Armidale next month after a 13-year hiatus and there’s plenty of work required to get the facilities up to scratch.
On Sunday, a team of volunteers braved the heat to paint the outside running rail to make Armidale’s track more presentable for the Sky Racing coverage.
Armidale Harness Racing Club president Peter Munsie said there was still a lot more work to be done between now and the first meeting on Sunday 23 March.
“It’ll be non-stop to get everything ready,” he said.
“I’ll be glad when it’s over, that’s for sure.”
The last professional harness race staged on the Armidale track, which is located inside of the Armidale racecourse, was in April 2001.
