Great Cook-off fires up

MY KITCHEN Rules star Cathy Lisle will put her cooking skills to the test in front of her home town in Walcha this Saturday.
Lisle will feature in The Great Walcha Cook-Off as part of the Walcha Show program.
The cook-off has been organised by the Walcha Farmers Market Committee, in conjunction with Walcha Tourism and the Walcha Show Society.
Lisle resides on a property at Walcha and has already proved her sophisticated approach to food and cooking on My Kitchen Rules, which airs on Channel 7.
The cook-off will include two teams of four people made up of key members of the community, larger-than-life local characters and out-of-town celebrity Ben Mingay.
Mingay is a talented actor, musician and musical theatre performer starring in the Channel 10 drama Wonderland and prior to that appeared in Packed to the Rafters.
Walcha mayor Janelle Archdale and Presbyterian Minister Rev David Burg will also be among the cook-off contestants, along with current Miss Walcha Showgirl Cecilia Oppenheimer, Andrew “Coog” Cross, Angus Kirton, Sally McCormack and Rachael Laurie.
The teams will have their own work stations and will be supplied with mystery local ingredients, largely sourced from the Walcha Farmers’ Markets, which will be held that morning from 8.30am to 12.30pm.
The teams will have 30 minutes to each create entrées and mains for the judges.
The cook-off will be held at 3.30pm directly after the fashion parade at the Walcha Show, outside the pavilion.
