ARMIDALE looks set to start the Group 19 competition strongly after an impressive victory against Oxley Diggers at Rugby League Park on Saturday.
The Rams led from start to finish to win 42-28 in the first competitive match under new captain/coach Clarrie Moran.
Teenage sensation John Boy Quinlan was a dominant force for Armidale, scoring two tries in a match split into three periods.
The Rams led 8-6 at the first break after tries to Josh Korobilu and Jamie Smith.
That lead was extended to 24-16 at the end of the second period following a Vinny Moran try and Quinlan’s double.
In a pleasing sign for the coach, the Rams finished the game strongly, a sign their strong pre-season will pay dividends.
Ryan Kelly, Steve Quinlan and Dan Ah-See scored the tries in the final stanza.
