Every gardener looks forward to spring and the warmer months but it can be a blessing in disguise. For this is also the time when weeds are at their most rampant.
Many were introduced to Australia by the early settlers or have escaped from gardens over the years and spread across the landscape. A large number of chemicals have been developed to combat these pests of our bushland, farms and gardens but some are not safe for our pollinators, the birds, bees and butterflies.
Well known local environmentalist, Kate Boyd, will be presenting her solutions to weed control at the next Australian Plants Forum to be held in the Tree Group Woodland Centre on Tuesday, September 20 at 7.30pm. Visitors, including families with children, are very welcome.
