Screening to raise money for Soldier On

Soldier On will be screening the documentary “The Battle for Long Tan” on Tuesday, November 27 in Armidale to raise money for its work inspiring, empowering and enhancing the rehabilitation of wounded soldiers.
The Armidale School, where the documentary will be screened, plays a big role in the history of Soldier On, as co-founder John Bale attended TAS, along with his good friend Michael Fussell, who was killed in action in 2008.
The screening will mark four years to the day of Michael’s death, an event that sparked John’s passion and led to the founding of Soldier On.
“Losing a mate makes you appreciate the value of living, and Soldier On was founded on that basis,” John said.
“For those wounded in battle, it’s important for them to understand that what they are going through can be overcome, and that the community appreciates the sacrifices they have made.”
Proceeds from the screening will go towards projects designed to ease wounded soldiers’ rehabilitation and secure them a future beyond their treatment.
“Events like these help us show all members of the defence forces that people care, that we respect and appreciate what they do for our country,” said John. Those attending the screening will include John Bale; Soldier On ambassador and wounded soldier Bronson Horan; and Michael’s family and friends.
