ARMIDALE’S leading sportswomen were recognised for their brilliance at PLC’s sports awards night at the Armidale City Bowling Club on Friday.
Catherine Thomas and Josephine Mackie won the top awards for their efforts in netball and hockey respectively.
“It was a outstanding event recognising the high calibre of sportswomen participating in a variety of sports pursuits at PLC,” said Trent Donaldson, the head of sport at PLC.
The event was organised by incoming sports prefect Georgina Haire in association with PLC staff Anna Caldwell and Carolyn Beresford.
THE WINNERS
Lawton Trophy: Catherine Thomas, for dedication and consistent effort to netball.
Reeve Cup: Josephine Mackie, for dedication and consistent effort to hockey.
Most outstanding individual achievement: Emma Barnier, for the highest achievement in sport outside the schools pathway.
Senior sports shield: Eloise Lambell, for all-round achievement and contribution to sport at PLC.
Tom Award: Jessica Wright, for loyalty, reliability, dependability, leadership, quiet persistence and achievement in sport at PLC.
Youman Shield: Annabel Paul, for dedication and commitment to training and the encouragement and development of team spirit in swimming.
Mullen Award: Zoe Selby, for the player who made the most effort throughout the year.
Service to sport: Angus Mackie, for invaluable contribution made by a students or parents to sport at PLC.
Supporter’s award: Janine Rock, for interest displayed in PLC sport through attendance, support and encouragement at various sporting events.
Year 7 Rookie Award: Lucy Quast.
Spirit in sport: Emily Barber.
Student coach of the year: Kate Spilsbury.
Senior Team of the year: Senior IGSSA hockey.
Most improved team of the year: PLC 5 netball.
Junior sports shield: Syrana Glenn.
Junior Team of the year: Junior IGSSA hockey.
