Show ready to rock the stage

AN internationally renowned play about two boys charged with manslaughter after throwing rocks from a freeway overpass and killing a motorist will be performed in Armidale next month.
Being staged at the TAS Hoskins Centre by Zeal Theatre, a touring company which was last in town with the sell-out production Burnt, the play The Stones is a tour de force of multi-skilled story telling and high energy physical theatre for teenagers and adults.
Created in 1996 by Zeal’s Tom Lycos and Stefo Nantsou, it has been performed more than 1100 times worldwide including in New York, Amsterdam and London, and received numerous awards worldwide.
Hoskins Centre manager Emma Buzo said she was determined to bring The Stones to Armidale and it will be the last production in Hoskins’ 2013 season of professional theatre and music.
“I saw The Stones a few years ago and was mightily impressed with the way these incredible actors drew their audience in to the story with their superb characterisation and use of live music,” she said.
“Zeal have a knack for finding stories that really matter to us and presenting them in with humour and humanity.”
The show is suitable for ages 10 to adult and would make a great night of theatre for a family, a group of friends or colleagues, Ms Buzo said.
During their visit to Armidale, Tom Lycos and Stefo Nantsou will also join TAS headmaster Murray Guest as guest judges for the inter-house drama competition, for the Cash Cup.
The Stones will be performed on Friday 22 November, at 7.30pm. Tickets are $15/$10 concession – for bookings go to www.trybooking.com/DBEE
