FORMER Wallabies star Jim Williams will be Armidale’s Australia Day ambassador this year.
The star flanker has visited Armidale before to coach juniors, but will spread his love for the country at the Australia Day festivities at the racecourse on Sunday 26 January.
University of New England chancellor John Watkins will be Guyra’s ambassador, however the former Labor MP will be largely acting in his role as the CEO of Alzheimers NSW.
At Uralla, opera singer Byron Watson is likely to be invited to contest the thong-throwing competition on Australia Day.
The top-class performer has been invited to be the shire’s ambassador.
