Police seeking assistance after child approached

Police are appealing for assistance from members of the public, after a child was approached by a man in a vehicle in Armidale on Friday.
About 3pm Friday May 11, 2012 a 13-year-old girl was walking north on Niagara Street when she saw a man driving a two-door white utility, travelling slowly behind her.
The utility crossed onto the incorrect side of the road, and pulled up alongside her.
The man in his 20’s or 30’s spoke to her, offering her a lift; the girl declined and kept walking.
The man again offered her a lift home, the girl declined and ran north down Niagara Street. The utility followed her for a short time before driving off.
Police were notified of the incident and an investigation was commenced by police from Armidale Detectives.
The man is described as of Caucasian appearance, aged in his 20’s to 30’s.
The vehicle is described as a two-door white utility.
