SENIOR students at the New England Girls’ School finished the first term on a high note last Thursday as they competed in their annual cross-country.
With many parents in town to pick up their daughters, there was a big audience at the finish line.
Every girl at NEGS is required to participate in the cross-country, with one section competitive and another recreational.
Principal Clive Logan spent the day at the track, starting every race and getting in to the spirit of the event.
The top four finishers will go on to run in the IGGSA Cross Country which will be held at Frensham School in Mittagong on 16 May.
“The school spirit was phenomenal,” sport co-ordinator Laura Cambridge said.
“Having Mr Logan start each race was a highlight – its not was every day you see a principal so involved and he was there for the entire event.”
Ms Cambridge said the school spirit was personified by the attendance of sports prefect Kayla Wicks and head girl Emily Rogers who were both injured, but led the way in enthusiasm and support.
