URALLA ran out of steam to be overrun by Tingha in the battle of the Tigers on Saturday.
At Tingha, Uralla led 22-12 at half-time and scored first after the break, but could not hold off the fast-finishing home side, losing 46-28.
A disappointed Uralla coach Carl Press lamanted a lack of fresh reserves as several players backed up from under-18s and reserve grade.
“We were going to have a couple of fresh subs but one bloke hurt his knee in the warm-up and pulled out and another bloke couldn’t make it,” Press said.
“We had three under-18s also back up and they were leg weary at the back end of the game.”
Front rowers Dwayne Daly and Barry Vale were superb for Uralla, but didn’t have a lot of support, while hooker Zac Brown put in another top line performance.
Aaron Gordon scored two tries for the visitors, while Vale, Brown and Fred Campbell also crossed the line.
Halfback Lewis Ahoy made four conversions.
Uralla’s reserve grade team was badly beaten by Tingha, losing 60-12, but the under-18 and women’s teams had good wins.
The juniors hammered Tingha 48-0, with Ethan Calless and Jordan Press scoring doubles, while John Boy Quinlan was best afield.
Amy Barraclough and Hanna Archibald led Uralla’s league tag team to a 28-4 victory.
