HUNDREDS of community members helped celebrate 30 years of the Armidale Tree Group over the weekend participating in a number of special events.
A well-attended workshop at the Nursery and Woodland Centre hosted by one of Australia’s leading organic gardening experts Tim Marshall took place on Saturday followed by a barbecue and a demonstration of the “Smart Tree”.
On Saturday evening, a special dinner was held at the Armidale Town Hall with around 140 people in attendance followed on Sunday by a joint birthday bash with NERAM at the Black Gully Music Festival with music, workshops and culture.
Armidale Tree Group manager David Hardwick said the 30-year milestone was well supported by the community with lots of interest in the organic vegie growing workshop.
“Seventy people came along to the workshop with Tim Marshall looking at ways to get more out of your vegie patch and some tips and tools for controlling pests organically.” he said.
“We are looking forward to another 30 years of building up our native plants, our environmental services – it’s all onwards and upwards from here.”
