REV HEADS in the region will get a healthy dose of action this Saturday when the annual Rallysprint returns to Metz, on the outskirts of Armidale.
The New England Sporting Car Club is hosting the opening round of the NSW State Rallysprint Series and drivers from Sydney, Newcastle, Central Coast and Queensland will be appearing.
The event is based at Echnida Gully where crews will arrive on Friday, ready to start the sprint early on Saturday morning.
After driving three passes of the 6km course in the morning, the direction is reversed for the afternoon series of three more passes, and the winner is determined by the times of the four fastest runs.
Racing starts at 10am, with the action set to finish around 6pm.
Flying the local flag will be Adam and Grant Kennedy in a Lancer Evo 3, Steve Mitchell and Tony Best in a Subaru WRX, Robert Crapp and Damien Frizell in a Corolla, while Bruce and James Clark will be hoping their Datsun Stanza is ready in time to make their rallysprint debut.
People wishing to see some of the day’s action can go to the Metz Road, 20km along the Waterfall Way from Armidale. They should follow the signs to Echnida Gully where the marshalls will direct people to parking areas and viewing points.
