ARMIDALE mayor Laurie Bishop has hailed the Autumn Festival a major success after big crowds turned out for events across the weekend.
The weather was largely friendly to the festival program – rain dampened the laser light show on Friday night – but storms on Saturday and Sunday came at the right time.
Cr Bishop said he was “humbled” by the show of support in the traditional parade on Saturday.
“This was my first time being involved as the mayor and it really was quite humbling,” he said.
“The way the town gets right behind the festival and the parade is something we should all be proud of.”
