Get crafty at Craftarama

Armidale Quota’s Craftarama for 2012 is shaping up to be the biggest yet, with almost 40 stalls booked. There’s a great variety, including lots of patchwork materials, kits, patterns, quilts and other patchwork items.
People who aren’t into patchwork will still have plenty to appeal to them and there’ll be a great variety of items suitable for Christmas gifts — soaps, handbags, bead bracelets, sterling silver jewellery, opal and sapphire jewellery, silk scarves, pottery, artwork, cards, calendars, miniatures, fine embroidery, women’s clothing, porcelain dolls and accessories and much, much more.
For those who want to learn a craft, there will be workshops on cake decorating, flower arranging, making a bead and sterling silver bracelet, learning to knit, creating a greeting card with paper tole and hand embroidery, as well as demonstrations of various craft throughout the weekend. Please contact Anne Simpson on 6771 1625 (W) or 6772 8020 (AH) for further information and to pre-book.
Craftarama is being held at the Armidale City Bowling Club, Dumaresq Street, where there is plenty of parking and the auditorium is on the ground floor. The Club’s Bistro is open for lunch and dinner, and morning and afternoon teas are also available.
Each year, Armidale Quota selects a local charity as a major recipient of Craftarama, and this year they have chosen LifeCyclists, a local charity set up in memory of Bec and Damian Wood’s little girl, Tessa. Any money they raise in Tessa’s memory is donated to the Sydney Children’s Hospital. We will also be giving money to Angel Flight and Armidale Quota’s own scholarship at UNE, which is awarded to a student who is deaf or who is studying to help the deaf.
Craftarama is on Friday, November 30 from Noon to 6pm and Saturday, December 1 from 9am to 4pm. Cost of entry is $5, with children under 12 years free. There will be the usual raffle, a silent auction and lucky door prizes.
