New England Bowls With Richie Clutterbuck
A VERY successful City for All Seasons pairs competition was run on the weekend with the weather holding out and the 32 teams enjoying the games.
Going into the last round on Sunday, only two teams had won all four games and the only team to be remain undefeated was the Guyra pairing of David Wilcox and John McIlwain who finished on five wins plus 54.
Second place went to Peter Doyle and Richie Clutterbuck with four wins one loss plus 59, with third going to Nick Golledge and Rex Skuthorpe on four wins one loss plus 58.
Overnight leaders Dale Smith and Ross Strahle lost their last game on the final end and this relegated them to fourth on four wins one loss plus 54.
Fifth went to Gavin Latham and Graham Bourke, sixth to Chris Kliendienst and Jim Williams, seventh to Dennis Williams and Terry Hooper and eighth to Kim Greentree and Mike King.
The club wishes to thank all players whom made the trip to our club and hopefully all will return next year.
Fuller new champ
THE big news of the week was the success of City’s Todd Fuller who joined the list of players who have won the State champion of champion singles.
After representing Country against City, he travelled to Bellrose and came home the champion. In the state final he defeated Les Vincent from Temora 31-19.
This is a big step for Todd as he will now go on to represent NSW at the Australian finals and I think they may be played in Adelaide.
We wish Todd all the best and hope he continues to play well in these upcoming matches.
Put your hand up
THE AGM of the district will be held this week and from what I have heard nominations are very poor and it looks like it’s the same me who will have the job of running our district again.
I commend these few who keep putting their hand up each year and hope that they have a successful 12 months.
Fours at Walcha
THIS weekend its Walcha’s turn to hold their annual Pastureland Fours event and that will be followed by Guyra hosting its pairs and triples carnival.
Also this weekend, the City club will contest the regional final of the BowlsNSW club challenge when they travel to Woolgoolga to play Kempsey Height.
