COMMITTEE members of the Bundarra Showground Trust were “over the moon” when it was announced that $30,000 of Crown Reserve funding had been made available to upgrade the showground’s amenities block.
Member for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall made the trip to Bundarra to tell the trust about the funding, which was allocated under the State Government’s public reserve management fund.
“The money will be used undertake important infrastructure upgrades and in the case of Bundarra Showgrounds they have been hoping to improve their public amenities block,” Mr Marshall said.
“Bundarra is such a great community and they work closely in all manner of activities to improve the facilities of the town, so the funding is well deserved.
“They have three campdrafts a year which are well patronised and the showground trust is really excited about being able to offer better shower and toilet facilities to the town’s visitors.
Bundarra Showground Trust chairman Gary Cracknell said the group appreciated the assistance.
“We have a great board, excellent volunteers so this is good news for us,” he said.
“Our family has been involved with the showgrounds for over 100 years so it’s important for us that we are able to keep improving on our facilities.
“It’s good for the showgrounds and it’s good for our town,” Mr Cracknell said.
“We will be upgrading the amenities block we have now and make it the men’s block and we can then build a new block for women.
“We will have to employ a few tradies but most of the labour will be voluntary,” Mr Cracknell said.
