The New England Regional Director, Jim White has congratulated the region’s Year 12 students on the Higher School Certificate success.
Mr White said that schools from across the region are delighted that students are being rewarded for the commitment they have put into studying and preparing for the HSC.
“There are some great stories of achievement,” Mr White said.
“Many students have been rewarded by ranking among the state’s best while others can be proud of achieving or even exceeding their own personal goals.
“They certainly deserve congratulations.
“As well as offering accolades to the Year 12 achievers, it is important to acknowledge the families who have supported the students and to recognise the dedication of teachers who have prepared and nurtured the students in the years leading to the final examinations.”
Duval High School student Karina Siems was ranked among the state’s best on the All-Rounders List (All-Rounders are Distinguished Achievers list for ten or more units).
Schools with students ranked on the Distinguished Achievers lists (list of students in the top band of a subject): Armidale, Duval, Farrer Memorial Agricultural, Oxley, Glen Innes, Inverell, Macintyre, Gunnedah, Tamworth, Quirindi, Narrabri, Warialda and Wee Waa High Schools as well as Uralla, Walcha, Guyra and Manilla Central Schools and the Moree Secondary College.
Mr White said the Higher School Certificate results highlighted the quality of teaching and learning and the broad curriculum available to students in the New England Region.
“The HSC curriculum at our New England Region public schools certainly caters for a wide spectrum of interests and aspirations,” Mr White said.
“Some students will build on their school studies leading up to the HSC as a foundation for further studies at TAFE and universities, while others find the HSC is a sound platform for employment.
