Provide shelter to strays

THE Armidale branch of the RSPCA is seeking community support for a new shelter for its Adopt a Pet Days.
These days provide an opportunity for unwanted and stray cats and dogs and other animals that are in care with the RSPCA to be shown to the public for possible rehoming. They take place the first Saturday of each month from 10am-2pm.
Council has advised The Armidale branch of the RSPCA that they can no longer use the shelter at the Creeklands behind Hungry Jacks and have been forced to move to a new location in nearby Civic Park off Faulkner Street.
“Because there are no facilities there, we need a basic weatherproof, roofed shelter to help us to continue to hold our programs in all weather conditions,” Armidale RSPCA spokesman Peter Hobson said.
“Council has agreed to support the project and the Community Mutual Group has also pledged to provide financial assistance, if we can show there is widespread community support for such a facility being built.”
Residents can help achieve this by visiting The Armidale branch of the RSPCA submission on the website at heartofourcommunity.com.au.
