Mixing it with best

ARMIDALE’S public school students produced typically strong numbers when the HSC results were released last month.
High achieving graduates from Duval High School and Armidale High School managed to mix it with the best in the state.
Seven students from Duval finished with an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank of 90 or more.
Alexander Wojno topped the list with 94.55, while school captain Christine Freak (93.9), Brittany Singleton (93.4), Kieran Maschio (92.85), Alexander Greenhalgh (92.6), Sam Oliver (91.7) and Anil Rajanathan (90), also performed brilliantly.
Duval High career advisor Lana Hardman said the teaching staff were proud of the students’ results.
“The school consistently produces outstanding results and that’s because of the professional teaching staff and the attitude of the students,” she said.
“It’s always sad when the Year 12 students leave each year, as you do form an attachment to them, but we are lucky in that they always let us know what they are doing with their lives.”
Armidale High School’s Kyrill Ho blew away his teachers when he achieved a rank of 99.5 last month.
Nicholas Clack wasn’t far behind with an ATAR of 97.05, while Maddie Dyall scored 94.55.
A total of 17 students from the school achieved band six results.
