Grant has U3A covered

NORTHERN Tablelands MP Adam Marshall last week toured the University of the Third Age in Armidale before paint work started on the landmark ASCA House building.
Mr Marshall announced funding for U3A Armidale of $11,687 from the State Government to complete the painting.
“ASCA House is a beautiful, heritage-listed building and it is fantastic that it will be receiving a fresh coat of paint,” he said.
“The NSW Government provided $130,000 to extend the reach of U3A into regional areas across NSW and to financially support its forums and mini-conferences.
“The U3A Armidale represents a lively, vibrant community, providing a wide variety of opportunities to some 600 members to continue to learn and participate in activities ranging from bird watching to yoga classes.”
Mr Marshall welcomed the work being done at the building, and noted the contribution of the university to the region.
“I’m very pleased U3A will receive this essential funding from the Community Building Partnership Program to give their building a much-needed lift,” he said.
“There is such a wealth of expertise and knowledge among seniors, and the U3A provides a fantastic platform for older people to come together to exchange ideas, learn something new, socialise and have fun.
“There are also opportunities for online learning which enables people who are less mobile or who live in more remote areas to access U3A courses.”
