TO BOOST local volunteer nominations for the NSW Volunteer of the Year Awards, the Armidale Volunteer Referral Service is expanding the criteria for judging its annual Certificate of Merit, presented during National Volunteer Week.
The Certificate of Merit will seek to recognise the efforts of volunteers who have given outstanding service to our community through their work with organisations, and will recognise both individuals and teams.
There will also be an award for an organisation with the most outstanding performance over the year.
“Setting new criteria for our local awards in line with the NSW Volunteer of the Year Award enables volunteers recognised locally to nominate for the state award,” referral service co-ordinator Jane Davies said.
“Our volunteers are some of the most active and passionate people, doing amazing things every day for our community. They really do deserve to have a shot at state recognition.”
Everyone nominated will receive a Certificate of Merit as in past years. This will recognise their years of service for an organisation. A panel of judges will select a winner for a special certificate in the categories mentioned.
Nominations close on Wednesday 30 April. All nominators and nominees will be invited to attend a morning tea held at Armidale Dumaresq Council Chambers on Wednesday 14 May.
