A HAT-TRICK of premierships is the number one goal for New England Nomads coach Zac Economou, who takes the reins of the football club in 2014.
After blitzing the Tamworth AFL competition in 2012 and ’13, Economou says the pressure would be on to maintain that standard this season.
“We’ve got a fair few new faces this season and numbers have been good at training, which is encouraging,” he said.
“We should have a pretty strong side again.”
Economou, the leading half-back of the competition, said he wouldn’t make a lot of changes to the structures set up by previous coach Tom Granleese.
“There’s a really good foundation to work with and we will just continue to work on our fitness and skills,” he said.
“Our ability to run and move the ball is the basis of the way we play.”
The only major loss to the Nomads ranks this season is best-and-fairest winner Jed Ellis-Cluff, who returns to Sawtell.
New England, which plays at Bellevue Oval at the University of New England, lost just one match in 2013 before going on to defeat Inverell in the grand final by 140 points.
The Nomads kick off their season in Narrabri on Saturday 3 May.
