Boundary Rider By MATT NICHOLLS
TERRY Carson is a man who wears many hats when it comes to rugby league in the region.
Not only is he president of the Armidale Rams, but he is also their scorer and the Group 19 recorder.
He also makes it easy for media outlets to get their hands on scores from each match and the scorers for all Rams matches.
Unofficially, he’s also the club’s spokesperson before and after matches.
Lift your game
ANOTHER whinge about sporting competitions in the area and their lack of drive to provide basic details about matches.
Although a ball has yet to be bounced in the Tamworth AFL competition, the Australian Rules competition is head and shoulders above its counterparts as far as basic details go.
You can find goal kickers, best players and quarter-by-quarter scores on a Sunday on the TAFL website.
Northern Inland Football provides scores on a Saturday night following matches, but nothing more.
Trying to find out who scored goals is a nightmare.
New England Rugby is worse, as there are more players that score compared to soccer.
It’s time for some of these sporting bodies to realise it’s 2014, not 1994.
Lips are sealed
ARMIDALE trainer Stafford Wain is a superstitious man.
He wasn’t too keen on talking about his horse Tiny’s View, who is nominated for a race on Anzac Day at Armidale.
“I don’t like talking about my horses before the race in case I jinx them,” he said.
“If we have a bit of luck I’ll talk to you all day after the race, though.”
We’ll take him up on that.
