Evocities awarded

The Evocities campaign pays off for Armidale with three major awards, including one for international recognition.
Evocities and specialist communications consultancy SHJ have now been recognised at a state, national and international level with three awards – the Public Relations Institute of Australia (PRIA) NSW State Award for Excellence; the PRIA Gold Target Award (national); and the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Gold Quill Award.
Armidale Dumaresq Council’s (ADC) Mayor Cr Peter Ducat was presented with the awards at a recent meeting in Sydney of all Evocity Mayors and General Managers. The awards will be circulated to all Evocities over the next few months.
“I am delighted with these prestigious awards of recognition on a state, national and international level,” said Cr Ducat.
“With Armidale’s involvement in the award-winning Evocities campaign, the Armidale Dumaresq area will surely reap the rewards into the future.”
The Evocities concept was created by the seven councils involved nearly six years ago. ADC’s Manager – Economic Development, Tourism & Marketing, Kevin Abey, has been working with each Council and marketing and PR agencies to develop the campaign, which was launched in September 2010.
“It has been great to be able to help bring the concept to life so successfully and see the campaign bear fruit. There have been about 25 people who have already relocated to Armidale and about 275 people in total who have relocated to one of the seven cities,” said Mr Abey.
