Choir shares Holy works

ARMIDALE’S oldest a cappella choir Fiori Musicali will present its annual Easter concert on Friday 4 April in the New England Girls’ School chapel.
The program features a group of Holy Week Responsories by Tomas Luis de Victoria (1548-1611), the most renowned Spanish composer of the late Renaissance.
Also included are two extraordinary works by Arvo Part (born 1935), an Estonian composer whose use of sustained sonorities, silences and slow tempos create a mystical and meditative experience.
Conductor Inge Southcott said the audience would not go home disappointed.
“I feel sure they will enjoy the clarity and warmth of the sound in the NEGS chapel where the amount of reverberation is perfect for a group of our size,” she said.
The concert starts at 6pm and tickets cost $16 for adults, $12 for pensioners and $5 for children. Tickets will be available at the door.
The Florence Green Memorial chapel is in the grounds of New England Girls’ School on Uralla Road.
Inquiries can be directed to Inge Southcott on 0431 479 008.
