AFTER blitzing England in the Ashes opener, interest in cricket is at a high around the country. But it’s not just the boys getting involved. This year, more than half a dozen girls are competing in various junior sides at Hillgrove Cricket Club. Vanessa Simpson, front, and her clubmates Amy Showell, Amy Evans, Maddy Dennis, Mikki Wilson, Brooke McElroy, Melanie Frost and Kareena Dawson are proving a hit with bat and ball.
