ARMIDALE City’s run in the gold division of the annual club challenge came to an end at Woolgoolga on Saturday when they went down on all three rinks to the strong Kempsey Heights teams. Playing on carpet, the Kempsey players were right at home as they have carpet at their home club and while not making excuses for the City teams they met a team’s well known for their ability to handle these conditions. The singles was a real classic with Todd Fuller up against Peter Taylor and in a match dominated with the driving of both players Peter prevailed to win 31-28. The pairs went to Kempsey 23-7 and the fours team completed the job winning 26-13. The City players wish the boys from Kempsey all the best in the state finals.
Jack lines up
WELL done to Jack Whitton who has been named in the 16-strong state under-18 squad following the annual City versus Country annual challenge matches at Cabramatta last weekend. Jack along with Justin Bullen were members of the Country team that lost the test series 2-1 to City after City took the final test. I do not have the rink scores at the time of going to press and will report further when I obtain these. This selection means that Jack is now in line for state junior representation and will no doubt have to attend various training camps.
Thanks to donors
I HAVE more business houses to thank following the annual Kids with Cancer Charity afternoon and these include Richardson’s Hardware for their barbecue donation, Bakers Delight, PDF and all other companies who donated items. I do not have a full list however we do appreciate your continued help. A special mention to Mrs Margaret Shuttleworth for her wonderful support also.
