SEVERAL Crown Reserves in the Uralla Shire will share in grants totalling $19,290 under the State Government’s Public Reserve Management Fund.
Northern Tablelands MP Adam Marshall said the money would be used to enhance the reserves and to undertake important infrastructure upgrades.
Grants have been offered to:
– $6000 to the Bundarra Public Recreation Reserve to conduct weed and pest control works and mowing and slashing for bushfire control;
– $6000 for the Mount Mutton Lookout to conduct weed control work to enhance the biodiversity value of the lookout and Mount Mutton Reservoir and;
– $7290 to Racecourse Lagoon to conduct bush fire and pest and weed control works.
“I am delighted to see significant funding being channelled into our local reserves to improve them for the benefit of the whole community,” Mr Marshall said.
“These grants will also ease some of the time and financial burdens on the many volunteers who maintain the reserves, and council, which is often asked to help out with various projects.”
Uralla Shire Mayor Michael Pearce said he was pleased to see the money being spent on reserves within the area.
“It’s a great bonus for us and it’s good to see the funding going to a good cause and something that will benefit the community,” Cr Pearce said.
