A GROUP of 26 teachers will travel to the University of New England (UNE) to attend a major teacher professional development event on 11-12 November.
UNE Growing Regional and Agricultural Students in Science (UNE GRASS) teachers attending will attend from across the region, including: Inverell, Mudgee, Coffs Harbour, Guyra, Gunnedah, Tamworth and Armidale.
They will have an opportunity to interact with internationally recognised scientists.
Guest speaker Professor Martin Cole, who is the chief food and nutritional sciences scientist at CSIRO, will share the current cutting edge science research addressing food security.
According to science education officer Susanna Grieg, UNE GRASS is a highly regarded program linking students and teachers of science with the exciting science and science based careers supporting primary industries.
This integrated strategy delivers science class activities, teachers’ professional development, teaching resources, student camps and student industry placement programs, she said.
