Crunch time for teams

Tweed Netball By HELEN RIGNEY

THIS weekend is the final round of our competition with finals to follow over the next three weeks.
The top five teams from each division will compete in the finals.
Head to our website to see how the finals will be played.
Our Netta players will all receive their medals immediately following their games this Saturday. We have a jumping castle organised so that the younger players all have a bit of fun on their last day of this season.
Semi-finals will be played in the normal time slots with the preliminary finals to be played on 17 August at 1pm and 2.30pm.
The grandfinals will be played on 24 August and all games will be played at 1pm with a barbecue and presentations to follow immediately following the games.
Our NetSetGo players will continue on this week and their last game will be on 17 August.
Coach Danielle Watters has enjoyed teaching and training this young group of players this year and is looking forward to getting them onto the court next week for a mini game.
Sadly, we have had to announce that we will not be able to host a summer night competition as our clubhouse and amenities block will be demolished early in September.
As there will be a large amount of constructions and no amenities block a vote was taken at our recent general meeting that we will not be able to conduct this competition, but watch this space because as soon as we can we will notify all of our players as to when our night season will kick off.
Tweed will host the Laura Geitz clinic on 27 September and this clinic is open to all players aged from 8 through to 15 years. Registrations can be made via the Laura Geitz official web site (www.laurageitz.com.au). All nominations and payment must be made via this website and not through Tweed Netball Association and all nominations must be made before the clinic date. The clinic fee is $47 per person and I am pleased to advise that Tweed Netball Association will be subsidising all of our Tweed Netball members and payment will be made back to you following the clinic.
Nominations are now open for representative coaches for next season for the ages 12 years through to 19 years. Nomination forms can be collected from the office or contact our rep co-ordinator Sandra O’Brien on 0422 232 939. Best wishes to all of our rep players for this year and I’m sure they will all enjoy the rep dinner to be held this Saturday night at Visions Twin Towns from 6pm. The theme of the night is “Red Carpet Vinnies Style” and we thank Neil Pengilley our official photographer and MC for the night Tony Ferruccio.
Best of luck to all teams for their final game this weekend and to all teams who will progress through to the finals.
Enjoy the games, respect your umpires and remember to play netball.
