Centaur students compete

Junior competitors topple one by one with fun in their sack races.

Centaur Primary School finished the 1st school semester with an athletics carnival that had the four house teams competing with a fervour that would rival any Olympic participant.
Junior students ran the 100m, keenly jumped and bumped in sacks down the track and carefully carried eggs in spoons with concentrated efforts; while their senior contemporaries participated in the traditional events of long and high jumps, discus, shot put and running events.
Neighbouring Banora High students and members of the Aurora Learning community put their mentoring skills to the test to assist with the organisation of events and support with equipment.
The keen teens quickly imparted their athletic knowledge and tips throughout the day to the younger competitors.
The helpful High-schoolers enjoyed the opportunity to participate in a fun and competitive relay between Centaur student teams and their ‘old’ Centaur Teachers.
All four house teams toughened up at the end of day to fervently face-off in the school’s traditional Tug-o-war. Lawson (Green house) managed to win the blistering war and Moss (Red house) led the way home, winning the carnival by four points.
Having the holidays to recoup, all students have returned ready to take on any task ahead in the new term.
