Perfect conditions for MTB Race at the Piney

The latest race in the Winter Series of races run by New England Mountain Bikers (NEMTB) was held at the Armidale State Forest (The Piney) on Sunday, October 23.  The race was held in perfect conditions with the sun shining and the track dry and fast.  Competitors rode 1, 2 or 3 laps of the 11 km track.
The first person home in the main 3-lap race, and winner of the Open Men’s division, was Peter Hosking. Peter pushed it hard all the way to finish with a fast time of 1:29:43.  Second was Stephen Chapman (1:31:34) with Matt Benham third (1:41:31).
Holly Harris was third across the line overall, which is a great achievement, picking up her first overall podium finish.  Her time was 1:35:14 for her 3 laps.  Jo Benham won the Open Female race with a 3-lap time of 1:44:05.  The Under 15s Female division (2 laps) was won by Winona Rumble (1:33:03) from Kathryn Hosking, Emily Wooster and Bella Hosking.  Nina Stone won the 2-lap Female Sport Section from Barb Hosking and Megan Wooster.
The next race in the Winter Series at the Piney is on Sunday, November 20. Check out the website for more information www.nemtb.com.au.
Many mountain bike riders will be competing in the Walcha Mountain Bike Challenge this Sunday.  Good luck to all those riders.
