St Anthony’s swimming carnival

There is nothing like getting in first and that is just what St Anthony’s Catholic Primary School at Kingscliff does each year when it comes to swimming carnivals.
While most schools hold their swimming carnivals in February and March – St Anthony’s gets in early and holds their event the year before, in the November.
On Wednesday last week, the school’s Primary School students congregated at the Kingscliff Pool for their annual competition.
The standard of competition was excellent and everyone displayed a great level of sportsmanship.
The day was a big success for everyone, thanks to the efforts of students, parents and teachers. Canteen head Angela Border-Baker and the tuckshop team kept the troops fed, while a dedicated band of teachers and parents ensured that the events were run smoothly and on time.
In the end, Mackillop Red took out the carnival, with Leonard Gold second and Presentation Blue third.
The age champions were:
8 Yrs Boys – William Lynch
8 Yrs Girls – Tied between Savanna Sillars and Phoebe Easterbrook
9 Yrs Boys – Hugh Easterbrook
9 Yrs Girls – Holly Sessarago
10 Yrs Boys – Liam Wilson
10 Yrs Girls – Cecilia Ryan
11 Yrs Boys – David Hughes
