Kingscliff women have got off to a flying start in the JH Williams Division 1 competition, with a decisive victory over the resurrected Murwillumbah side.
The Sirens proved too strong for the Murwillumbah Vipers, who have returned to the women’s competition after a year’s lay-off.
However, despite creating opportunities, it was not to be a fairytale return for the Murwillumbah team who went down 3-0 to the Tweed Coast side.
The 2012 hockey season got off to a good start last weekend with games being played in Murwillumbah, Kingscliff and Casuarina.
The new artificial turf field under construction in Murwillumbah is still a few weeks away from completion.
Organisers are praying the weather will be kind to them over the coming weeks to allow the final stages of work to go ahead.
