Northern NSW dominate the finals

On a pristine day with light offshore winds and two-foot waves, four grommets saved their best performances for the final and added their names to the prestigious honour roll of NSW champions.
Riding their way to victory after a drop in swell and a huge week of competition, at the Hurley NSW Junior Surfing Titles presented by Vestal, the Under 12 and Under 14 Boys and Girls divisions were crowned on a spectacular day, bringing the week-long event to a close.
Kobie Enright (Tweed Heads) sealed her win very late in the Under 14 Girls final when she posted an outstanding 8.50, after a wave for wave battle with Billie Melinz (Coalcliff), which had spectators cheering on the beach.
Enright’s final wave of the final saw her thump out dual manoeuvres and claim a massive 9.0 point ride, giving her the title, defeating Billie Melinz (Coalcliff), with Alysse Cooper (Allambie Heights) in third and Paris Whittaker (Cronulla) in fourth.
Apart from the Far-North Coast surfers dominating the Under 14s finals, Northern NSW surfers were also in great form in the Under 12 divisions, with Kyuss King (Byron Bay) and Alyssa Lock (Tweed Heads) claiming two more NSW crowns.
Kyuss King was riding the high from the two perfect 10.0s he received in the lead-up to the final, surfing against his good mates Sandon Whittaker (Avoca Beach), Mikey McDonagh (Lennox Head) and Karne Blackwell (South Coast) who placed second, third and fourth respectively.
Alyssa Lock gave it everything she had on the two-foot waves that turned her final into a winner, posting an impressive 9.00 and an equally solid 8.00 point ride over Macy Calllaghan (Central Coast), Sienna Coulter (Northern Beaches) who placed third and Isabelle Wheatley (Avoca) in fourth.
Perfect weather wrapped up the day and a great week at Boomerang Beach.
