THE Armidale Riding Club and New England Showjumping Council held a combined training competition on Saturday at the Armidale Equestrian Centre.
Combined training brings together both dressage and showjumping.
The event involved riders competing in both a dressage test and a showjumping round in various categories.
Riders of all levels from beginner to advanced participated on the day. Jump heights started at 30cm and went up to 105cm and there were dressage tests at various levels.
The event was well supported by riders from both clubs with 35 riders competing.
The winners were evenly split between the showjumpers and the dressage riders. Bragging rights went to the Showjumping Council which narrowly won the interclub trophy.
The day was also part of the ongoing fund-raising efforts for breast cancer research with five dollars from every entry fee was donated directly to the Cancer Council’s Pink Ribbon Day fund-raiser.
All competitors were asked to wear something pink on themselves and/or their horses – so there are usually some pretty amazing looking combinations
As always, the event was made possible thanks to the support of a large number of volunteers who helped out on the day. Without their assistance the day could not have proceeded. It was a great day with fantastic spring weather and lots of fun had by all.
This event is one of many held by the Armidale Riding Club which is a not for profit community-based club.
Throughout the year the club holds training days and competitions. Visit www.armidalerc.equestrian.org.au for further details.
