THE Graham Betts Holden Challenge is one of the most popular events on the golfing calendar due to the outstanding generosity from the team at Graham Betts Holden.
The dazzling jewellery donated as trophies is a great incentive, and much appreciated by the four clubs involved.
To qualify, players must follow the format of three home games plus one away game. The final is played on the first weekend of August.
Participating clubs include Armidale, Guyra, Uralla, and Walcha.
The windy conditions and fast greens proved difficult for both the locals and visitors and was reflected in the scores. Local knowledge helped, with the first three places going to the Armidale club.
An exuberant Cris MacDonald was the overall winner of the Graham Betts Challenge with 34 points. Cris selected the magnificent baroque pearls as her prize.
Helen Brodie was the runner-up on a countback from Jane McCardell 33 points.
Other places went to Vicki Heffernan from Walcha with 31 points and Guyra’s Pip White 30 points.
