SALT is set to be put on the SurfLife Saving Australia map after being announced as host for a Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain Ironman and Ironwoman’s Series Trial on 14 to 15 September.
“We are delighted to welcome the competitors, officials and spectators to the beautiful Tweed Coast for what we know will be two great days of ironman action,” Destination Tweed CEO Bill Tatchell said.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase the beaches and surfing hotspots for which the region is famous, as well as the great accommodation and facilities available here.”
Open to all financial members of SLSA, the trial will take place over two days, with three races for men and three for women.
Two of the three races will take place on an M Shaped course and the third will be run on a traditional Ironman course.
Round one is scheduled for Saturday morning, round two Saturday afternoon and round three will be held on Sunday morning.
Points accumulated in rounds one, two and three will determine the overall rankings from the trial.
The top four men and top four women finishing on the highest accumulated points across all three rounds will join the top 10 pre-qualifiers from last year’s series to race in the Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain Ironman Series later this year.
Entries for the competition opened Tuesday 30 July via http://carnival.sls.com.au.
