The Armidale Rams Reserve side had a tough day at Warialda last Saturday, going down 30 to 16.
The Wombats had a great start to the game, scoring within the first minutes of the game. The Rams struggled with lack of ball possession and were behind on the scoreboard 20-0 at the half-time break.
In the second half, the Rams came back early, with Adrian Morris scoring and a successful conversion finally putting points on the board for the Rams.
The second half saw a bit of niggle in the play and one Warialda player was sin binned for a professional foul.
The Rams’ Michael Ware scored, Brian Dennison was successful with the conversion, bringing the score to 30-10.
The last minutes of the game saw a fantastic runaway try to the Rams from number nine Chad Borger, with a successful conversion by Brian Dennison; however this was only a consolation and was not enough to win the game.

In the other games the Rams U18s side went down 20-4. The young Rams side were missing some key players. Only seconds into the game saw a nasty head clash, resulting in a concussion for a Warialda player; the game was stopped for some time until he was taken to hospital.
Warialda played with only twelve players for the rest of the game. A try to Damien Dussart brought the only points for the Rams on the day, but the boys tried hard all game, the final score was 20-4.
Points for the round went to Damien Dussart – 3 points, Adam Croft – 2 points and Matt Lawson – 1 point, Players Player was John Brown and Coach’s Award went to Adam Croft.
The Ladies League tag were unlucky not to get the win, they had a tremendous comeback in the second half but were beaten 28-24.
Some great try-saving tags from Kayla White were seen on the day. A try to Kady Gwynne 10 minutes before halftime took the score to 20-4 to Warialda.
To the girls’ credit they came back, with tries to Bonnie Smith, Rachel Zirkler who bagged a double and one to Alana Dunne .
Points for the round went to Rachael Zirkler – 3 points, Kayla White – 2 points and Kady Gwynne – 1 point. Players Player – Rachel Zirkler and Coach’s Award went to the whole team.
As a sign of the level of commitment from these girls, Rachael Zirkler travelled and played a full game after having her wisdom teeth removed only the day before the game!.
