O’Brien has been selected in the 2013 NSW U18 Men’s Hockey Squad along with 26 other players.
Members of the squad will attend a series of trial sessions in 2013 and from there a NSW U18’s team will be selected to attend the 2013 Australian Hockey Championships in Darwin. Jim gained selection into the squad after attending the U18 Men’s State Championships, as part of the Hockey New England U18’s team, held at Bathurst in May this year.
