More than 400 competitors from across the Far North Coast branch took part in the Salt Surf Lifesaving Club’s first ever Nippers carnival at Salt on Sunday morning.
Organiser David Rope hailed the event, which featured competitors from Fingal to Yamba, a success.
“The carnival was very successful although, as you would have seen, the water events were a bit of a challenge for some of the competitors,” he said.
The club, which has been operating just six years, put in an impressive performance on their home turf too.
“It was the best our competitors have ever performed at a carnival,” he said.
In all, they had 60 competitors and won seven gold, seven silvers and seven bronze and finished with four fourths, five fifths and six sixths
