It was a big day at Reg Dalton Oval on Saturday as Kingscliff Football Club went pink in the name of breast cancer research.
It was Ladies’ Day at theclub, with plenty of champagne and pink cupcakes. Even the traditional sausage sandwich was given a make-over, with the club barbecuing up chicken breast burgers as a special treat.
The celebrations coincided with the Tweed Valley Kings’ home game against Musgrave so the Premier League team got in the act, adding light pink socks to their playing strip for the day and holding an impromptu fundraising sprint run for the day.
And as well as raising plenty of money (they were still counting just how much at time of printing) the club had plenty to smile about, with the Kings winning 6-0 and cementing a place in this year’s Gold Coast Soccer Premier League final series – not bad for a side that is often fighting for relegation against the bigger, stronger Gold Coast-based teams.
