Demon Knights have dispatched Minor Premiers North Armidale 2-1 to take their place in the New England Mutual Premier League final against Oxley Vale Attunga this weekend.
Demon Knights have had an up and down season, but throughout the competition have managed to keep themselves in the hunt and up the top end of the ladder.
That grit and determination was evident in their stunning win against tournament favourites and defending champions, North Armidale.
The first half was tightly contested with neither side managing to crack the other’s defences. Both sides were patient and executed deft passes to construct opportunities up the front. Finally, just before the end of the first half, North Armidale scored to take the lead 1-0 in the break.
The never say die attitude of the Knights kept them in the game and, not long into the second half, North Armidale conceded a penalty and the Knights capitalised with Michael Allen taking the penalty to level the score 1-1.
The final nail was hit in the coffin of North Armidale when Michael Allen again scored for the Knights, securing the victory.
The Demon Knights will hit a red hot Oxley Vale Attunga in the Grand Final. Oxley Vale Attunga convincingly defeated DK in their last encounter, 5-1.
