WELL its finals time and what a day it was last Saturday – I’ve seen some pretty exciting games in my time but none better than the under-10s match which was played on court 19 between Cudgen Cookies and Kingscliff Purple Hearts.
This the first year of competition for these two teams and they played like true champions.
At the end of the game the score was a 19-all draw and it was still a draw after the end of the extra time period so the teams then had to play until one team was in front by two.
Cudgen Cookies took the honours.
Kingscliff Purple Hearts were graceful in defeat and both teams have certainly got a taste of finals in a big way.
Well done and thanks to the two umpires Tahlia King and Emma Rudland for being in control in such a frantic, loud, exciting situation.
The under-13s game between the Saints Jaguars and Kingscliff Sunshines also went down to the wire with Kingscliff Sunshines coming away with the win 25-24.
All other games were played in great spirits to match the brilliant day, weather wise.
The draw for the finals will be on our website by Monday morning and we confirm that there will be two timeslots 1pm and 2.30pm. The grand final, to be played on 24 August, will be played for all divisions at 1pm with presentations to follow immediately after the games. We invite families to stay for the presentations which will also include the presentation of the Meg Grace Award for the volunteer of the year for 2013. Bring along an esky to enjoy a drink after the games.
Our rep players all enjoyed their end of season presentation dinner held at Visions Twin Towns recently.

Best of luck to all teams this weekend – respect your umpires and your coaches and remember to play netball.
