Fishing on the Tweed By DAVID SOLANO
NOT much luck over the weekend for me, but my mate Richard Creighton caught a personal best bream of 45cm on Saturday, which was great.
A notice for young fishos and their dads – Milan Duwenhogger-Lange, our local fishing education officer has been in touch explaining that he is the Education Officer for the Northern Region (Tweed-Coffs). He regularly undertakes educational fishing workshops for kids as well as advisory at field shows, expos, ag shows local fishing spots etc. The program is based around educating the public on sustainable fishing practices and environmental awareness.
He will be planning a workshop for 24 August at Ray Pascoe Park in Tweed. The workshops are designed for children aged 8-14 years, cost $40 for which they receive a fishing rod, reel, tackle box, hat, shirt and informational showbag and encompass various topics such as knots and rigs, fish handling and indentification and casting practice.
It sounds like a great idea and a lot of fun, if you are interested in attending please contact Milan on 0458 274 876 he will advise time and answer your questions. I will be there for a chat and a lesson of plastic fishing and a chance for folks to check my kayak out. Cheers.
