A strong performance by the Demon Knights has rattled Tamworth FC, who are sitting on top of the Southern Conference, with a decisive 2-0 win at Rologas Fields on Saturday.
Coach Alan Waddell was pleased with his side’s mental commitment throughout the game.
“We knew it was going to be a difficult game, as they were top of the Southern League, but the boys really prepared themselves well and I got the response that I was after,” said Alan.
“In the first half, we could have scored a couple of goals but we were denied by the cross bar.
“At half-time I just told the boys to keep going and not to drop their heads.
“We were fortunate to get a penalty, which gave us the lead, one-nil and from then on, we were still the better team.
“The winning goal was a fantastic strike from Joshua Quaife, which sealed the win for us.”
