Armidale Servies Super 9s Hockey action continued at the New England Hockey Centre last Friday night with ABLAC still undefeated after coming away with the win against Sportspower 2-1. The game was played at a super fast pace with ABLAC holding on for the victory.
In the earlier game, WHK held on to post their first victory of the competition, defeating McDonald’s 3-2 in what was another game played at a frenetic pace.
“It was end to end, with the lead changing hands throughout the game,” event organiser Mark Lowe said.
“WHK got their first win of the competition in what was a terrific display of quality hockey.”
Both sides produced some standout performances with Tamworth imports Kim Hardy and Cameron Cooper playing well for the McDonald’s side and Jimmy O’Brien for WHK all over the park.
Mark Lowe was impressed with the quality and pace at which the region’s top male hockey players are competing.
“This is the first time we have had a pre-season competition, so the players are loving it, and the spectators that are coming to watch the games are blown away with the speed of the game,” said Mark.
“As far as pre-season goes it has been excellent and we are definitely looking forward to making it a regular event.”
This Friday, ABLAC play WHK at 7pm and Sportspower play McDonald’s at 8pm.
