Pottsville takes cricket title

The Pottsville U/12s have taken out this year’s Under-12 Cricket title.
The young Pelicans defeated Tweed Heads Colts at the Ron Wilkinson ground, Banora Point.
“The boys were so excited and so was everyone else,” club spokesman Marj Goward said.
“The finals commenced on Saturday morning, March 17, and continued on Sunday 18th. Pottsville had Tweed Colts all out for 62 on the Saturday, and Pottsville went in to bat. Teams returned on Sunday, with Pottsville continuing to bat. Tweed Colts conceded when Pottsville reached 63.
“The Major Premiers Trophy, which was initially donated by the Glynn family in Murwillumbah, was last won by Pottsville Cricket Club in 2001/02. These young players were two years old and younger back then.”
